The Dragon symbolizes good luck, the turtle long life and the baby turtle is a symbol of new beginnings. The tortoise symbolizes wealth, longevity, strength, endurance and happiness. The tortoise also represents indestructibility and immutability and is said to live up to one thousand years according to Chinese lore. The tortoise can be used as a talisman for protection and stability. Two or three tortoises one on top of each other also symbolizes the family unity, supporting and caring for each other. The turtle is one of the Four Celestial animals of Chinese mythology (the rest being the White Tiger, Phoenix and Dragon). According to Feng Shui, tortoises should be displayed in the center of the home. The prosperity turtle sits on a bed of coins symbolizing that if we take our time to earn money we should live to a ripe old age and enjoy it. Legend has it that the turtle has within his body the secret of heaven and earth and the design of his shell shows the magic square, which is the guide for life. In Chinese mythology the turtle was said to have risen from the depths with the markings of the eight trigrams of the I Ching and the Bagwa on its back. In Chinese myth the turtle supports the world, its four feet being the four corners of the earth.
