Inspired by the Bee motif embroidered on the canopy of NapolŽon 1st’s Throne, Jean-FranŤois Garneray (1755-1837): NapolŽon 1er Empereur des FranŤais, Roi d’Italie. c. 1805.
The Bee – symbol of immortality and resurrection, was considered the oldest emblem of the sovereigns of France. It was chosen as the link between the new dynasty to the very origins of France.
