Jeweled Entwined Hearts Pin

Description

The original design for this pin made of a union of two elegant hearts was created by one of the major Parisian jewelers of the nineteenth century. French jewelry design of the period represented a wide range of styles, but small pieces known as “bijoux sportifs” that were based on amusing figurative themes or sentimental subjects were particularly popular. The designer of the double-entwined hearts motif on which the Museum’s pin is based is thought to have worked for the House of Robin, Felix Duval, or Falize. Produced in cooperation with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. 24 kt. gold plate and silver plate, with crystals. Length 1 5/16 in., width 1 3/4 in.
