An agro-meteorologist by profession, Dr Lakshmi Nandan Bora has so far authored twenty-nine novels and twenty-six short story collections, some of which have been bestsellers for a number of years. He has been honoured with the prestigious ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“Saraswati SammanÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ (2008), besides a number of awards, including ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“Sahitya Akademi AwardÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ (1988) and ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“Assam Valley Literary AwardÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ (2004). A former professor of physics and agro-meteorology and chairman of the Assam Pollution Control Board, he now edits the widely circulated Assamese weekly Goriyoshi.
