Description

An unique cast
Department of Egyptian Antiquities
On the occasion of the exhibition Les Portes du Ciel – Visions du monde dans l’Egypte Ancienne (Doors to the Skies – Visions of the World in Ancient Egypt), presented at the Louvre until June 29, 2009, the Rmn publishes an exceptional cast of La Triade d’Osiris (Osirian Triad), unique expression of the divine.
This reproduction was realized from an imprint taken from the original of the antique goldsmith masterpiece Pendant in the name of King Osorkon II: the family of the god Osiris, made of gold, lapis-lazuli and red glass, 874-850 BC, kept at the Louvre museum.

Pharaoh Osorkon II is represented crouching on a lapis-lazuli pillar. He is presented under the aspect of the god of the dead, Osiris. His body is clasped by a mummy sheath. He bears the high crown Atef with two feathers. His wife Isis and his son Horus stand by his side and raise their hands as a sign of protection.
